Over the past two years, many key personnel in the fields related to China’s vaccine industry have died suddenly around the age of 50. With a shady background, each death has sparked much speculation.
New Vice Mayor of Dalian City – Deputy General Director of China National Pharmaceutical Corporation Sinopharm suddenly dies
Dalian Daily, an official local media in Liaoning Province, on July 25 reported that Zeng Bing, a member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and new vice mayor of Dalian City, died July 23 brought on by “sudden heart disease,” at the age of 52.
Mr. Zeng took office on June 24. His died less than a month later.
Zeng’s position in Dalian was only a “temporary.” He was also deputy general director of China’s national pharmaceutical corporation Sinopharm, secretary of the board of directors, press spokesman and director of the office of policy research. Sinopharm Corporation is the Chinese developer of the Sinopharm vaccine against COVID-19.
Zeng had nearly 30 years of experience working in medicine. In September 2020, he led a team to Peru, South America, to conduct phase III clinical trials of the COVID-19 vaccine.
An expert from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention suddenly passed away
Another Chinese vaccine firm, Sinovac, also had a recent death of a young executive. Cao Xiaobin, senior manager of the government affairs center of Beijing Sinovac Biological Products Company died suddenly on April 17 at the age of 45.
Cao graduated with a doctorate from the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, majoring in epidemiology and health statistics.
Cao was once a student of a famous epidemic prevention expert who was used by the CCP. Wu Zunyou is the head of the epidemiology team at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). He often speaks on behalf of the CCP. The two worked together at the center.
Two weeks before Cao’s death, another listed company had just released its 2021 annual report. The report showed that the company’s profit in 2021 had spiked, mainly from the vaccine maker Sinovac, which the company had invested in. According to preliminary calculations by some investors based on the relevant share ownership ratio, Sinovac’s net profit in 2021 would exceed US$13.31 billion (90 billion yuan).
Netizens have made many different associations and speculations about the relationship between Cao’s death with the famous experts behind the research and work on the vaccine and the huge profit.
A foreign scientist died of virus
The third person to die was a scientist who had worked with Sinovac. Novilia Sjafri Bachtiar, the scientist in charge of China’s Sinovac vaccine trial program in Indonesia, died on July 7, 2021, at the age of 52.
Indonesia State Business Minister Erick Thohir, posted the news on Instagram, but he did not disclose the cause of Bachtiar’s death. Thohir said Bachtiar was the principal scientist and had led dozens of clinical trials for the biopharmaceutical company, including a clinical trial of a COVID-19 vaccine in partnership with Sinovac.
Reuters quoted Indonesian media as saying that Bachtiar was buried according to the rites of handling the death of COVID-19.
The report also said that the infection and death from COVID-19 of Indonesian health workers who were vaccinated with Sinovac has raised doubts about the effectiveness of the vaccine.
An expert from the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences dies suddenly
Professor Zhao Zhendong, a researcher at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, died in Beijing on September 17, 2020, at the age of 53. Oddly enough, it took two or three months for the official media to reveal the news.
The Paper reported that on December 2, 2020, Zhao attended an academic conference abroad, after returning to Beijing, he suffered a stroke in a terminal at Capital Airport and died early the next morning. According to reports, he died of “exhaustion” due to constant work. Three hours before his death, Zhao had contact with students while at the airport outside the city.
After the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020, the National Health Commission of China trusted Zhao to lead the technical support team for the research and development of special vaccines of the State Council. He was responsible for generating ideas for 12 research and development units in China’s five technical roadmaps.
A military specialist died mysteriously
The first dead vaccine developer known to be the most mysterious, Zhou Yusen, a Chinese epidemiologist and military scientist filed a patent for a COVID-19 vaccine before the outbreak of the global pandemic, died in May 2020. Zhou won many titles, but Chinese officials did not report his death. There was no mourning. Officials only listing him as “dead” in relevant documents.
The New York Post reported on June 4, 2021 from an article in The Australian that, in June 2021, Zhou Yusen had filed a patent for an early COVID-19 vaccine as early as February 24, 2020. Five weeks earlier, the Chinese Communist Party had just admitted that the COVID-19 virus was spreading from person to person, and the World Health Organization had not even declared there was a pandemic, but Zhou had developed a vaccine.
What is even more surprising is that Zhou died very suddenly and mysteriously three months after he filed for the vaccine patent. The incident is also part of an investigation ordered by U.S. President Joe Biden, the report said.
Regarding the sudden, unusual deaths of Chinese medical experts, Xia Yifan, an expert on Chinese affairs, told an Epoch Times reporter that the CCP’s official statement is completely unbelievable. Therefore, many people who died suddenly at a young age while still healthy, are all related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The possibility of being murdered cannot be ruled out, because behind that is a very fierce struggle for profit and power.
Vaccines are a huge, billion-dollar industry in China. According to a report from China’s National Health and Medical Commission on June 28, the number of vaccine doses administered has exceeded 3.4 billion. This does not include the number of doses exported.
Sinovac Biopharm’s 2021 annual report showed that the company’s total revenue in 2021 is nearly $19.4 billion an increase of about 37 times compared to 2020. Profit before tax is about $17.6 billion, and the profit after tax belonging to the parent company is nearly $8.5 billion.
For an autocratic state, the division of interests is often inseparable from power. In May 2021, the CCP established a new agency, the National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In February of this year, authorities issued a notice stating that the facility is a deputy ministerial unit and is managed by the National Health Commission. However, there has been controversy over who manages this CDC facility.
The official media Beijing News said that on July 26 this year, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention held a conference and clarified its new position, moving from the Health Commission Administer to the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention. As a result, the relevant departments, personnel, and structure have undergone major changes. The organizational adjustment and related authority change took more than 14 months to complete.
