Twenty-two members and their associates of the MS-13 gang were indicted in Los Angeles on July 16 by the Justice Department, with President Trump saying on Thursday the majority of them were “illegal aliens.” The street gang has been charged with seven medieval-style slayings, using machetes, knives, and baseball bats to kill their victims.

These killings have been linked to the Fulton clique of MS-13 over two years, with the 22 gang members charged in connection with first-degree murder and racketeering.

Nineteen of the 22 were in the country illegally said Thom Mrozek, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney’s office in Los Angeles, according to LA Times. Almost 200 crimes committed in several states over nine years are suspected of being the work of the gang. Six defendants abducted a rival gang member in 2017, he was taken to the Angeles National Forest, where he was hacked to death with a machete, his heart cut out and his body parts thrown into the canyon.

“They are said to have killed many people in the most brutal fashion. They should never have been allowed in our Country for so long, 10 years,” Trump tweeted.

“We have arrested and deported thousands of gang members, in particular, MS-13,” he added. “ICE and Border Patrol are doing a great job!”

The arrests were made after a two-year investigation by the Los Angeles Metropolitan Task Force on Violent Gangs.

Nineteen of the group alleged to have committed the slayings are under the age of 24, with 16 eligible for the death penalty should the Justice Department pursue it, according to LA Times.

“These gang members sought out young victims in their teens and early 20s who were new to this country. Many had recently immigrated from El Salvador and Honduras. They were alone, looking to fit in with others from native countries,” said Los Angeles County District  Attorney Jackie Lacey, “But instead, they met their demise quickly at the hands of gang members who preyed upon them,” he added.

“We’re seeing an influx of younger gang members coming into the area associating themselves with the Fulton clique who are extremely violent, who have to commit murders to join the clique,” U.S. Attorney Nick Hanna said.

“Senator Chuck Schumer has finally gone to the Southern Border with some Democrat Senators. This is a GREAT thing! Nearby, he missed a large group of Illegal Immigrants trying to enter the USA illegally. They wildly rushed Border Patrol. Some Agents were badly injured,” Trump tweeted.

“Based on the comments made by Senator Schumer, he must have seen how dangerous & bad for our Country the Border is. It is not a “manufactured crisis,” as the Fake News Media & their Democrat partners tried to portray. He said he wants to meet. I will set up a meeting ASAP!”
