A gas station in Hantai District, Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province, was suspected of having poor quality fuel. When tested, the solution contained in the gasoline sample accounted for more than half of the sample. It causes the vehicle to stall and break down halfway.
Many Chinese outlets cited Jimu News as reporting about the incident. Accordingly, a driver said that he refueled at the Yanchang Petroleum Changqing Gas Station. His car went off not long after he began driving. He then returned to the petrol station, where he discovered that many other owners were experiencing the same problem.
The staff at the gas station confirmed that 21 vehicles refueling between 8:55 and 9:20 on the 15th faced troubles.
According to CCTV, the Shaanxi Energy Quality Supervision and Inspection Institute conducted an inspection on May 21. The report shows that the amount of water in the gasoline mentioned above accounts for 88%.
The local police forced the relevant gas station to shut down. The gas station is now under investigation for selling substandard products.
The incident sparked heated discussion among citizens.
One online user asked about the location of the incident, adding that it’s apparently a water filling station rather than a gas station.
Another person said that the current gas price is too high and this station is making huge profits.
