As reported by Caixin on May 27, Beijing police have investigated two nucleic acid testing institutions due to their violations of laws and regulations. They are from Beijing Jinzhun Medical Laboratory and Beijing Pushi Medical Laboratory.

After the investigation, Beijing authorities accused the Beijing Jinzhun Medical test lab of diluting samples during tests by mixing many tubes together.

Pan Xuhong, the spokesman for the city’s public security bureau, said that these artificially diluted samples affected the accuracy of the test results. He added that the bureau had filed a case against the institution for obstructing the prevention and control of infectious diseases.

On May 27, police took criminal compulsory measures against 17 people, including Wang Moumou- the legal representative of the testing center.

On the same day, Beijing Pushi Medical Laboratory was also put under investigation for alleged involvement in covid lab testing fraud. Notably, the lab provided test result data significantly lower than the actual number of samples collected.

The trio, including the deputy director of the Fangshan district health commission with his two other officials, are under investigation.

Earlier, Beijing police took measures against six people related to the lab whose business licenses were withdrawn. The local graft watchdog has filed a case for obstructing the prevention and control of infectious diseases.

Xu Hejian, the spokesman of the city government, said at a news conference on May 26 that the authorities would severely punish test labs that purposely change the accuracy of results to obtain profits illegally.
